Surviving The Pandemic Part I

As the pandemic has stretched on for what seems like the 147th month, I find myself struggling with the fact that every day is the same day.  I know that I am not alone in feeling that way.  Talking to my wife, broker, and friends I am learning that this is a common feeling of late.  So that is why I have chosen to write about just that.  Surviving the Pandemic.  This will most likely be a two- or three-part post as there is so much to talk about.  Here goes.

First and foremost, I have to say, my family is/has been blessed.  During this time, my wife, older daughter, and myself have worked every day.  My younger daughter finished up some of her classes online and then worked for the last two months until she went back to college. I know the pandemic has affected many families in many ways. So, if you are reading this and need help, please feel free to reach out to me or my company and we will try our best to help you.

I realized early on that with every day being the same I had to do something to keep my mind active and engaged.  So, to that end, I rediscovered my joy of reading.

As a child and a young adult, I loved to read.  Getting older and having a career and a family my time and interest changed.  Since the pandemic has started I find that getting lost in a story is a great way to pass the time.

Over the last five months I have read fifteen books. While not all were great literary classics, they were not pamphlets either.

I read several Stephen King books, a book based on a Batman comic story, a ten-part series by David Eddings, (my favorite author growing up), to an auto biography about the girl from the Cherry Pie video by the band Warrant.  I have read online articles about Keanu Reeves, Chernobyl, food delivery, politics, and everything in between.  I even got some of my old comics and graphic novels out of storage and read those.

How are you keeping you mind active during all of this?  Have you read any good books lately?
